The Selling Process.

Selling your business is one of the most important decisions you may ever make. Since it often represents a significant part of your life's work, you deserve the highest possible benefit. Devaney Business Brokerage represents your interests in quickly obtaining the best price for your company!

We sell many types of businesses ranging from small retail establishments to large distribution and manufacturing firms plus many other types of commercial and investment properties. Our expertise is unsurpassed in the field. Here is an overview of our 5-Step program.

Step 1 - A Market Evaluation.

It is often difficult for sellers to obtain a realistic valuation of their business. Off the shelf formulas of a company's sales, net worth or replacement value don't take into account competition, changes in technology or product obsolescence. We have a market based knowledge of what businesses are actually worth and the first step is to allow your Devaney Business Broker to construct a free evaluation of your business and develop a listing price. We will need your assistance in providing your Broker with all the information needed to evaluate your business and develop a realistic price.

Step 2 - Marketing Your Business

Once our evaluation is complete, as the second step, you sign our listing agreement allowing your Broker to discreetly market your business. We have a large database of waiting Buyers and we work with many other Business Brokers to give your company a wide exposure. When we advertise, we do it discreetly so your identity is not compromised. We receive hundreds of inquiries so great a deal of our time is spent eliminating shoppers and undercapitalized wannabes so we can bring the most serious Buyers to you. All potential Buyers are required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Step 3 - Evaluating Offers

When we locate a serious Buyer, our third step is to arrange meetings between you, the Buyer and your Broker. After the meetings, if the Buyer has interest, they will make an offer. Your broker will work with you to negotiate a price and terms that are acceptable to you. When the price and terms are agreed, the Buyer provides a Binder to your attorney and a contract is prepared.

Step 4 - Due Diligence

The forth step is when buyer performs their due diligence and verifies all the information given to them. When they are satisfied, a closing date is set.

Step 5 - Closing The Deal

Frequently, buyers and sellers do not appreciate the many steps necessary to actually close their deal. We speed up this process. Buyers and sellers also have different interests. We prevent or diffuse misunderstandings so both parties can experience a mutually beneficial transaction.
